The name says it all. When you cruise,
you're not on a clock and it's not a race. You're just on the water,
taking your time. Cruising boats come in all sizes, generally starting in
the 20-foot range (with a couple bunks and a mini-galley), and reaching up
to 50 feet or more, with staterooms, bathrooms, hot and cold running
water, and gourmet galleys. Cruisers offer enough space for a weekend or
several weeks on the water. For some, cruising becomes a way of
life. You can start with a small boat and explore bays and islands a few
miles from home.
As your navigating and sailing skills grow, you can spend extended
periods of time on the water a few weeks of vacation or even for entire
seasons.
