If competition is in your blood, sailboat racing is for you. It can take on many forms, from one-person dinghy racing to big, offshore, high-performance yacht and sailboat racing.

Some races are highly organized; others are casual, with the post-race party taking on as much importance as the race itself. Some round-the-buoy fleet races are run two or three times a day, while the long-distance races we read about in the news may take days, weeks or even months.

If you want to race, there's no shortage of opportunities. Single and double-handed racing on small sailboats is fast, fun, and inexpensive. And if you long for big-boat racing, owners are often on the lookout for crewmembers.

The sailing and power boating lifestyle is something sailors and captains of all types love to talk about. Not just to share experiences, but to share valuable insight and information.
